From Councillor's surgery in St Martin's, Southdene today:
Cllr Stuart reckons that KMBC had nothing to do with the school going and that the Archdiocese of Liverpool own the land and pulled the school. Check with Governors? ? Cllrs say "The KRAG" are telling "lies" about this. ?
Also that Cherryfield Old Folks home is privately owned and that they ain't selling to Tesco, although they have been approached. ?
Cllrs reckoned they did not get an invite to the public meeting in St Chad's and so did not go. ? Maybe "The KRAG" should personally invite them to a meeting to find some common ground seeing as we're all in this for "our community," would avoid disinformation etc. ? (They don't like getting abuse in the Townie, mind.)
Cllr Brennan reckons that "politics and religion shouldn't mix" and that it was terrible that that meeting was in a church, and it was said that it was inappropriate for "a man of the cloth" to behave like that as "who is going to argue with him?" (Aye right?! Most of us!)
(Am sure Our Lord got himself crucified for keeping well out of politics an' all...!)
Also that Everton had tried College site and Sports Centre site first and been refused. ?
Keep at it "The KRAG": "A Tesco is Not Regeneration"

Saw a couple of lads waving a theodolyte about on Bewley Drive yesterday, measuring the road junctions by All Saints'. Asked one what he was doing. Said, a survey, supposed to be for Knowsley Council but he suspected it probably had more to do with Everton Footbal Club. Nice sunny day for it mind. Happy working lads! Tell them its a swamp and the stadium will subside. Wink

i have a book at home called captive state. it deals with a load of shady land dealings betwen the labour government and big business

their is a chapter about tesco's underhand dealing in the "renovation" of the historic st mary's area of southampton

basicaly they knocked it down despite opposition from residents

the council insited that the area needed to be demolished despite local builders carrying out a survey and proving that not only where the buildings able to be restored, it was also a lot cheaper than what the council and tesco where planning

residents meetings were infiltrated by unknown people who were very pro tesco

tesco got their way and the government made sure they did
